Swan Lake - April 12-21, 2013 Performance at McCaw Hall
Swan Lake - April 12-21, 2013 Performance at McCaw Hall.
Went looking for a building that I saw the other night. I knew it had something to do with the ballet, but didn't think I could afford a ticket to any of the shows. Figure I just drop by to admire the architecture.

Exterior by day.
Exterior by night (my first time seeing the building).
Nice wedding photo I found.
Was walking by in the evening and by chance saw people eating inside McCaw Hall. Figure I drop in and explore a bit. By chance there was a performance going on that night. I saw people still buying tickets at the ticket window, figure I go and ask how much tickets cost. Turns out tickets cost only $35 bucks (cost of a dinner?) which was the lowest price for a seat in the house.
I went ahead an purchase the ticket and the lady who I purchase the ticket from showed me a diagram of where my seating will be. 2nd tier (the blue area on the map). Pretty far back, but I figure I make the best of it.
The show for the night was Swan Lake (never heard of it). The show didn't start until 7:30 so I still had about 1/2 an hour so I figure I explore for a bit. I went walking down on the 1st floor (my seat was all the way on the 3rd floor). By chance I saw a Asian lady working at a clothing storage place. I ask if I could store my bags and jacket while watching the show. She said there was no cost and the service was provided as a courtesy to guest.
Turns out she was Vietnamese and we talked for a little bit about the show. Swan Lake was one of the best shows that the PNB (Pacific Northwest Ballet) puts on. She gave me a tip to read ahead the program book for the performance so that I could understand the story while the ballet was going on. I've never been to a ballet before so I assume there would be some sort of dialogue
She then ask to see my tickets and saw that I was seated way in the back. She ask if I would like to use the "broken" binoculars that they had. Labeled broken because you could only see out one lens which was fine with me.
I went ahead and drop my things off, thank the lady for her advice and went looking for my seat. Instead of taking the stairs outside, I went inside to see the orchestra setup.

Zig Zag Walking Method - Easy method to walk uphill or for everyday walking - 4.12.2013
Leonardo da Vinci - Orthogonal views of the skeleton (1510-11) |
Note:
See a chiropractor if you are experiencing pain when walking. Check your shoulder, hips and ankles. Reference Muscle Medicine by Rob Destefano.
As you can see from da Vinci's sketch of the skeleton, both knee's are bent slightly inward. When walking up a small hill (or a city street), try bending your knee's inward as you walk. It should feel almost like ice skating.
The Hill Test
While on a steep, decent size uphill do a before and after test.
- Its important you go super slow at first and be relax.
- Walk like you would normally up the hill. Notice how much effort it takes.
- Now take a break.
- Next try to walk up the hill while slowly bending your knees (one by one) inward. Zig with your left knee inward and Zag with your right knee inward. The movement should be smooth and relax. Take a look at da Vinci's picture to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
- Think about how a rider would bike up hill. The general advice would be to zig zag up the hill instead of plowing straight up. The same theory goes for walking up a steep hill.
The whole movement should feel like ice skating (with no effort) going up the hill. Keep a mental picture of Da Vinci's skeleton sketch of how your knee's are suppose to bend (inward).
I've always had running and walking problems from improper posture and walking technique. I would plow towards my destination with lock knees and using my feet instead of my knees to propel me forward. I started zig zagging by accident this morning while walking around the city, but didn't notice a difference until going up a hill.
Give it a try on a hill to feel the difference then in your every day walking.

Vital Tea Leaf - Lenora & Western. Drink black tea for detox.
http://www.vitaltealeafseattle.com/index.php?main_page=index
- The Owner recommended black tea (Yunnan Puerh) over drinking green tea for detox. I explain to him my health problems (junk food, skin eczema condition) and he recommended black tea over green tea to detox my body of the junk food.
- He went on to explain some of the benefits of black tea and had me sit down an try out a tea with coconut vs the black tea. The black tea was strong and the owner said it had a "earthy" flavour that over powered the tea with coconut in it. He then pass along some health advice for me to keep in mind:
- My blood can be thick from all the junk food I eat and so my body maybe overheating an causing all my skin condition.
- I need to cut out the junk food.
- Do not eat late at night or else the body will have a difficult time digesting the food.
- Stay away from seafood with a shell (shrimp, crawfish, oysters etc.)
- Drink more liquids. "A Tree needs water to grow".
- Drink the black tea he recommended (Yunnan Pu Erh).
He filled up my thermo with some of the dark tea he had and gave me a (estimate) 1 week supply of the Pu Erh tea to try out. Figure I give it a try since I've always believed green tea was healthy. We'll see what happens.

Beko Gourmet Hotdogs Japon
97 Pike St
- Tried they're hotdog over the weekend. Reminds me of how the Koreans makes sushi. From what I've observed, they make up random sushi rolls and put weird names on them so that people would be curious to try something different from the ordinary. With hotdog's, it looks like they're doing the same thing. I tried their Matsuri hotdog but wasn't too impress.
- I found it interesting that the owners did not use the food trailer, but instead opt to cook outside with a home made hotdog stand. They also have a trailer in the back to hold more supplies.
- How much is the rent at the parking lot?
- What is the license needed to operate a hotdog stand?
- How much is the hot dog stand?
- What's their operating cost?

- Was walking around late at night looking for a place to sleep when I stumbled upon Thoa's. I was only interested in the spot because it looked like a nice spot to sleep for the night. Upon looking closer I realize I stumbled upon a Vietnamese restaurant. Curious, I went ahead and took a quick pic to check them out later on yelp. Turns out the owner also own's several other restaurants around town. Very successful business women. Potential business partner.
